Through participating in I’m a Scientist, school students get to see scientists as “normal people doing research“. That helps them see more opportunities for themselves in life.
Geography was recently described to me as “the bit between hard rock and the outer atmosphere.” It gets involved in so much of our lives. How we travel. Where we live. The resources we use. The things we enjoy.
Yet, despite its influence, most people would struggle to think of a geographer. Possibly because the people who use geography in their work don’t call themselves ‘geographers’.
This term, we are launching I’m a Geographer, in partnership with the RGS. This new project will help students explore how geography is used by a diverse range of professionals in their jobs.
📆 What happens next?
Registration opens today for schools and geography professionals. Bookings will open on 20 October, for Chats to begin from 3 November 2025.
The new project is part of our long-term strategy to offer schools a broad-based, cross-curricular resource to support students’ career aspirations, and subject knowledge.
